Mercury
The smallest planet and closest to the Sun, with extreme temperature swings and a heavily cratered surface.

Physical Properties
Atmosphere
Mercury has a very thin exosphere rather than a true atmosphere, composed primarily of oxygen, sodium, hydrogen, helium, and potassium. These atoms are continuously blasted off its surface by solar wind and micrometeorite impacts, creating a tenuous envelope that is constantly being replenished and lost to space.
Fun Facts
Mercury's day-night cycle lasts 176 Earth days -- longer than its year of 88 Earth days.
A person weighing 68 kg on Earth would weigh only 25.7 kg on Mercury.
Mercury has ice in permanently shadowed craters near its poles despite surface temperatures reaching 430°C.
Mercury is shrinking -- its circumference has decreased by about 14 km as its core slowly cools and contracts.
The Caloris Basin impact was so powerful it caused chaotic terrain on the exact opposite side of the planet.
Mercury has no seasons because its axial tilt is only 0.034 degrees, the smallest of any planet.
From Mercury's surface, the Sun would appear about three times larger than it does from Earth.
